A leader who does not care about his or her employees will not be successful in motivating them. It does not matter what an uncaring leader says to or does for his or her employees. If the employees know that the leader puts profits before people, they will show no respect and only do the bare minimum. A good leader should start by examining his or her attitudes towards the employees.
A good leader may at times need to sacrifice profits for the good of the employees. Businessmen who genuinely care about their employees will avoid firing employees or laying them off. A leader who makes people a priority will find that the people will be loyal, work hard and make the company a success.

Cultivate an Atmosphere of Teamwork

Employees that work well together will produce more. They will also be happier. A good leader should cultivate teamwork and encourage employees to work together. If the employees are competing against each other, as is the case when they are paid on a commission basis, there will be a “dog eat dog” atmosphere at the office. This atmosphere is not only unpleasant but also not conducive to success.
